DAY 1 Salkantay Trek: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – CHALLACANCHA- SORAYPAMPA
We’ll start the trip early in the morning from your hotel and driving about 2-3 hours to Mollepata, where we will make a short stop to use the restrooms and last minute shop. Then we’ll drive to the trailhead where we’ll start the Salkantay trek. We should start our hike around 9:30 am. We’ll hike around 9 Km to Soraypampa where we’ll have lunch and which is also our campsite. We’ll have time after lunch to rest shortly before we hike to Humantay Lake which is about a 3 hour trip. It’s a tough hike since we’ll be at an altitude of around 4200 meters, but the view of this glacier fed Lake worth the effort! Tonight will be the coldest night along the trail, so may want wear a few layers to keep warm! |

DAY 2 Salkantay Trek: SORAYPAMPA – SALKANTAY PASS - CHAULLAY
We’ll awake early for what will likely be the hardest day of your Salkantay trek! After an early breakfast, we’ll hike up to the Salkantay Pass at 4650 meters in about 3 hours. After about a 2 hour hike, we’ll get to Huayracmachay where we’ll have lunch and rest shortly. After lunch, we’ll hike another 3 hours through warmer climates to Chaullay which is at about 2900 meters. Where our campsite will be set. |

DAY 3 Salkantay Trek: CHAULLAY – LA PLAYA - AGUAS CALIENTES
We’ll start our hike from Chaullay to La Playa around 6:00 am. We’ll hike through warmer climates for about 6 hours, enjoying the green vegetation, when we reach La Playa, we’ll have lunch and rest before taking the local transportation to Hidroelectrica. From Hidroelectrica we’ll walk along the tracks, for about 3 hours before we end up in Aguas Calientes. |

DAY 4 Salkantay Trek: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO
Leaving at 6am, you can hike up to Machu Picchu or take a bus. We’ll have a 2 hour guided tour, then, you’ll have time to wander around by your own until it’s time to go back to Aguas Calientes to catch our train. |
