DAY 1 Salkantay Trek: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – CHALLACANCHA- SORAYPAMPA

We’ll start the trip early in the morning from your hotel and driving about 2-3 hours to Mollepata, where we will make a short stop to use the restrooms and last minute shop. Then we’ll drive to the trailhead where we’ll start the Salkantay trek. We should start our hike around 9:30 am. We’ll hike around 9 Km to Soraypampa where we’ll have lunch and which is also our campsite. We’ll have time after lunch to rest shortly before we hike to Humantay Lake which is about a 3 hour trip. It’s a tough hike since we’ll be at an altitude of around 4200 meters, but the view of this glacier fed Lake worth the effort! Tonight will be the coldest night along the trail, so may want wear a few layers to keep warm!

DAY 2 Salkantay Trek: SORAYPAMPA – SALKANTAY PASS - CHAULLAY

We’ll awake early for what will likely be the hardest day of your Salkantay trek! After an early breakfast, we’ll hike up to the Salkantay Pass at 4650 meters in about 3 hours. After about a 2 hour hike, we’ll get to Huayracmachay where we’ll have lunch and rest shortly. After lunch, we’ll hike another 3 hours through warmer climates to Chaullay which is at about 2900 meters. Where our campsite will be set.

DAY 3 Salkantay Trek: CHAULLAY – LA PLAYA - AGUAS CALIENTES

We’ll start our hike from Chaullay to La Playa around 6:00 am. We’ll hike through warmer climates for about 6 hours, enjoying the green vegetation, when we reach La Playa, we’ll have lunch and rest before taking the local transportation to Hidroelectrica. From Hidroelectrica we’ll walk along the tracks, for about 3 hours before we end up in Aguas Calientes.

DAY 4 Salkantay Trek: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO

Leaving at 6am, you can hike up to Machu Picchu or take a bus. We’ll have a 2 hour guided tour, then, you’ll have time to wander around by your own until it’s time to go back to Aguas Calientes to catch our train.

Day 5: Machu Picchu & Return to Cusco

We rise at dawn to hike (1.5 hrs) or take the bus (25 min, $12) to Machu Picchu, aiming to arrive by 6:00 a.m. After entry procedures, enjoy iconic views and a 2.5-hour guided tour of the citadel, followed by 30 minutes of independent exploration (max stay: 3 hrs). Optional hikes to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain are available with pre-booked tickets. Return to Aguas Calientes by foot or bus, with time for lunch (not included). Afternoon train to Ollantaytambo and private transfer to Cusco, arriving around 6:30 p.m.

Enjoy a fascinating city tour in Cusco, starting with a hotel pick-up. The experience includes a visit to the majestic Cusco Cathedral, followed by a tour of the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuamán. Next, explore the archaeological site of Qenqo, the ancient military center of Puka Pukara, and conclude at Tambomachay, an archaeological site dedicated to water worship, surrounded by Inca mysticism and tradition.

Full Day Tour in The Sacred Valley

Pick up is from your hotel between 08:00 and 08:15 a.m. First place to visit is Pisaq. This place is know because the Incan ruins and the colorful Artisan Fair. Around noon there is the chance to make a lunch stop at Urubamba town. The afternoon tour is at Ollantaytambo, built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invasions of the inhabitants of the jungle. You can walk through the streets of the town. After Ollantaytambo we will return to Cusco by Chincheros where the remains of the royal treasury of Tupac Inca Yupanqui are found. Here we can see its well preserved Inca Wall in the main square and visit the beautiful colonial temple with interesting frescoes in the portico, built on the foundations of an Inca building. You are going to be back at your hotel around 19:00.

Rainbow Mountain Trek

Arriving at k'ayrawiri (4326 masl) where we will get ready to start the hike, first it will be approximately 2 and a half to 3 hours uphill where we can see beautiful landscapes with many snow-capped mountains, locals with typical clothing of the area and breeders of llamas and alpacas, in addition to the beautiful scenery of the Vilcanota mountain range.
