Arrival to Iquitos

Upon arriving at Iquitos airport, travelers are greeted by a representative who takes them on a short city visit before transferring to Amak Lodge or a similar accommodation.

First day in Iquitos: Arrival and First Encounter with the Amazon

Start your adventure with a visit to CREA, where you learn about the rescue and conservation of manatees and other species. Then, explore Nanay Market to discover local flavors and products. Afterwards, travel by boat along the Amazon River to the lodge. Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome drink, followed by afternoon activities such as a boat ride on the Río Negro and piranha fishing.

Second day in Iquitos: Wildlife Encounters and Local Traditions

High River Season Activity: The day begins with a beautiful sunrise over the river and the chance to spot pink dolphins. After breakfast, visit Monkey Island, a sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and caring for different species. In the afternoon, take a guided walk along the trails to explore the surrounding forest. Low River Season Activity: After breakfast, visit the giant Ceiba tree, one of the most iconic trees in the region. Continue to the Yagua community to learn about their traditions and crafts. Later, enjoy free time to relax in hammocks before ending the day with a nighttime walk to observe the forest after dark.

Third day in Iquitos: Living Nature and Local Culture

High River Season Activity: Your day begins with a visit to the impressive Ceiba tree. Afterwards, enjoy free time for a refreshing swim in a natural river pool. Then, travel by boat to the Las Palmas or Timicuro community to learn about their culture and connection with nature. The afternoon ends with a peaceful sunset on the river. Low River Season Activity: Start the day with a sunrise on the river and birdwatching in an area rich in biodiversity. After breakfast, walk the lodge’s trails to explore the forest. In the afternoon, visit the Victoria Regia, the region’s famous giant water lily, and enjoy free time before dinner.

Fourth day in Iquitos: Final Exploration and Departure

High River Season Activity: In the morning, visit the Yagua community to learn about their customs, crafts, and traditional demonstrations. Afterward, check out and receive a box lunch. Low River Season Activity: After breakfast, enjoy free time at the lodge before visiting Monkey Island, a sanctuary dedicated to rescued species. Afterward, check out and receive a box lunch.

Iquitos departure

Your Amazon adventure concludes with a scenic boat ride back to Nanay Port, followed by a comfortable transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
